About

Barrak Darweesh is a visiting researcher at the Mediated Matter research group. As an Architect, and designer, he explores the context and potential of Architecture scale additive manufacturing and robotic construction. Barrak is interested in exploring architecture narratives through design, computation, additive manufacturing and digital fabrication, all while incorporating social performance. Prior to joining Mediated Matter, he worked as a researcher at Emerging Objects, a lab dedicated to research in 3d printing, and material explorations. Barrak holds a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley focusing on biomimicry and fiber composite Digital fabrication. Barrak has been involved in the design and making of several large-scale architecture pavillions and art installations in the United States and the Middle East, and has taught introductory workshops on computational design, parametric architecture and ceramic 3d printing.
