About

Michal Firstenberg is an organic chemist in the Mediated Matter group. She received her PhD from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, developing new organic semi-conductors for plastic electronics. Utilizing a LEGO-like synthesis, she built short conjugated molecules ‘brick-by-brick’ and tested their functionality in light-emitting diodes and transistors. Before arriving at the Media Lab, Michal worked on biodegradable polymers for the slow release of fertilizers in agricultural soil, a research project funded by Israel’s chief scientist in Haifa Group. Michal is also a professional Clarinet player and an amateur dancer.
